BMW "B&W Style" (Bowers & Wilkins) ambient light speaker covers are premium aftermarket interior upgrades designed to replicate the look of top-tier factory sound systems. They feature beautifully machined metal grilles integrated with LED lighting that connects directly into the vehicle's factory ambient lighting control module.

Installation & Compatibility

Plug-and-Play Wiring: True high-quality kits use factory-style wiring harnesses that tap directly into your door card’s standard lighting strips. No wire cutting or custom coding is required to make them operate.

Required Prerequisite: Your vehicle must typically feature factory-installed BMW ambient lighting from the factory to allow the colours to control and sync seamlessly.
Please read the following information carefully before proceeding with the retrofit.
Sport Mode Ambient Lighting
If your vehicle is equipped with the “Sport” ambient lighting function, selecting Sport Mode via the centre console may cause the ambient lighting to change to a combination of blue and red.
We have experienced occasional instances where the ambient lighting located within the front doors and tweeters may not change correctly to the red colour when Sport Mode is selected.
This is due to the vehicle using separate lighting programmes and parameters associated with the solid red lighting function, which can be affected by vehicle safety regulations, software configuration and ongoing BMW software updates.
Outside of this specific Sport Mode function, the system operates normally. When any colour is selected through the vehicle's iDrive ambient lighting menu, all speaker and ambient lighting will change accordingly to the selected colour.
Aftermarket Coding and Software Modifications
Please be aware that any previous or existing modifications made using aftermarket coding applications, including BimmerCode, Carly or similar software, may alter certain parameters within the vehicle's electronic systems and can potentially cause conflicts with the ambient lighting system.
These issues may be further affected by subsequent BMW software updates, which can modify, reset or overwrite previously altered coding parameters.
Where coding modifications are required following installation of this retrofit, we recommend that they are carried out using BMW ISTA software by a suitably qualified technician. Where appropriate, automatic remote software updates should also be considered, as these may overwrite coding changes or introduce further compatibility issues.
We have experienced similar issues on other vehicles where aftermarket coding has previously been carried out. We can also provide a demonstration video showing examples of the types of issues that may occur as a result of such modifications.
Recommended Factory Settings
To minimise the possibility of compatibility issues, we recommend that any aftermarket ambient lighting or related coding modifications are returned to the vehicle's factory-standard configuration before the retrofit is carried out.
Please note that restoring the vehicle to its factory-standard configuration may result in the loss of any additional red or other colour option previously enabled through aftermarket coding.

Any coding, software modification or programming required to the vehicle must be carried out by the vehicle owner or an appropriately qualified third-party technician.
